Biography
Barry Hall is a playwright, director and actor based in Taipei. His plays have been produced around the world. He studied theater at Sarah Lawrence College and has received fellowships from the Japan Foundation and the Edward F. Albee Foundation. He has taught at Aletheia University, National Taiwan University and National Chengchi University in Taipei; Gyongsan National University in Jinju, Korea; University of New York in Tirana, Albania; and Obirin University in Tokyo, Japan. In addition to his more conventional teaching, he has recently become involved in conducting theater workshops for autistic adults; as an autistic person himself, he realizes the potential that theater has for breaking down barriers to expression and communication. He is now artistic director of the newly-established Elsewhere Theater Company, which will stage its first production in March 2020.
