Biography
Gary L. Blackwood. Though best known as an author of young adult novels and nonfiction (The Shakespeare Stealer, The Year of the Hangman, The Great Race), Mr. Blackwood has also written a number of successful stage plays for adults and for young audiences. Dark Horse won the Missouri Scriptworks competition and was produced by the Ferndale Repertory Theatre in California. The Count of One, winner of the Festival of Firsts playwriting competition, has been staged in California, New Jersey, and Spain. Fateville took first prize in Dayton Playhouse's Future Fest. The Goose Girl was a winner of the Beverly Hills Theatre Guild Marilyn Hall Award. His adaptation of Edith Wharton's novel Ethan Frome is published by Baker's Plays. The stage version of The Shakespeare Stealer has been produced by many professional children's theatres, including those in Seattle, Nashville, and Charlotte, and is published by Playscripts, Inc.
