Biography
Catherine Keyser is a graduate of Princeton University, where she studied playwriting with Wendy Wasserstein. She won the Young Playwrights Inc. National Young Playwrights Competition in 2000 with her one-act play Welcome Home, Virginia Woolf. Her full-length drama Under Fire, about Hillary Clinton's election to the New York Senate seat, won the America's Best Playwriting Competition in 2001. Under Fire was originally staged in a reading by the New York feminist performance collective "the estrotribe" in April 2001, and was produced in November 2001 at the University of Central Florida. Catherine's one-act plays have won several awards, including the Scholastic Writing Competition Dramatic Script Category Gold Award (1997), Baker's Plays High School Playwriting Contest (1996), and the International Thespian Society Playworks Contest (1996). In addition, she is a five-time winner of the New Jersey Young Playwrights Festival (1991-1996). Her plays have been published by Playscripts, Inc. (Finding A Chord), Baker's Plays (The Fiance and Beautiful Girls), and Dramatics magazine (Dreamtime). Her plays have been produced throughout the United States, from Wilmington, Delaware to Del Rio, Texas. Catherine currently attends Harvard University, where she is pursuing a doctorate in English literature.
