Biography
Hilary Bell. Hilary Bell's plays include Wolf Lullaby (Steppenwolf, Atlantic); Shot While Dancing (1999 Susan Smith Blackburn finalist); and Eye of the Storm and The Falls, both workshopped at the National Playwrights' Conference, the former traveling to the Russian Playwrights' Festival. She has written libretti for musicals, song cycles, the opera Mrs. Satan, and most recently Phillip Johnston's score to Murnau's silent film Faust, premiering at the New York Film Festival. For her plays, she is a recipient of the Philip Parsons, Jill Blewitt, Bug'n'Bub and Eric Kocher awards, and the Aurealis for a novel. A graduate of the Juilliard Playwrights' Studio and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, Ms. Bell has taught playwriting and screenwriting at Wesleyan and New York University respectively. She is currently writing the feature film Isabelle the Navigator, starring Toni Colette.
