Biography
Alex Brandes began playwriting while studying at the University of Virginia. His commitment to his work deepened during his senior year there, as he took only a playwriting seminar and filled the rest of his nonwriting hours with frisbee, beer, and live music. He has completed four full-length plays to date. Bill Posters Will Be Prosecuted was produced in the black box theater at the University of Virginia, and Squatters' Rights was given a reading at the St. Marks Theater in downtown New York City. Mr. Brandes is a teacher by trade, and after spending three years teaching in the New York public school system, will be returning to UVA to pursue a Master's degree in education.
