Biography
Alex Austin is a Los Angeles-based writer, editor and teacher. His full-length play Shotgun was produced at the Santa Monica Playhouse, Santa Monica, California, in 1999, and ran for two months. His full-length play The Amazing Brenda Strider ran for six weeks in 2000 at Glaxa Studios, Los Angeles. The Amazing Brenda Strider was a Backstage West Critic's Pick and received a Maddy Award for Excellence in Playwriting. Brenda was also a winner in the Fullerton College Playwrights Festival and runner-up in the Festival of Firsts. Brenda had a six-week run in the fall of 2002 at Portland's CoHo Theatre. Presented by the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, Mr. Austin's play Mimosa received a production at the Los Angeles Theatre Center in March 2002. His fiction and nonfiction has been published in numerous magazines, and he was the editor of Hollywood and PSA magazines. He currently lives with his family in West Hills, California. He is a graduate of UCLA and has a Master's degree in history from California State University, Northridge.
