Biography
V. Cate. V. Cate and Duke Ernsberger have been a mother/son writing team for over 10 years. Besides Elvis Has Left the Building, they have collaborated on 4 other plays: Don't Cry for Me, Margaret Mitchell, Dracula Bites, Sherlock Holmes and the Christmas Goose, and A Visit from Scarface, all of which premiered at The Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia and were produced by Richard Rose. Both members of the Screen Actors Guild and The Writers Guild of America, V.Cate has a BA from The University of Arkansas and Duke Ernsberger has a BFA from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Their play Don't Cry for Me, Margaret Mitchell won The Appalachian Festival of Plays and Playwrights at Barter Theatre in 2007 and was nominated for the prestigious Steinberg Award in 2008. Asked why they continue to write comedies:
